mtv vmas

everyone, it seems, has already reviewed the mtv vmas (the coolest being here. still, that's not going to stop me posting about it!
my thoughts were all scribbled down with chocolate scented jelly-roll pens in my journal. i haven't seen an awards show in the longest time, and dude, i'd forgotten how long they are.
the best thing about it was witnessing the blooming trend of men wearing hats, which i'm really pleased about. a man who looks good dressed in a suit with a trilby is always a keeper. justin timberlake looked beautiful in his, closely followed by outkast and jack white. i hope the hat trend continues.
boys in pop have looked scruffy for way too long. the strokes were being inetrviewed before the show with moby in tow and i couldn't bear to watch it. they're all such dicks! it was totally embarassing.
britney spears is so beautiful, but as i've said before, she loves to anger people with her fashion sense. i think that at the vmas she went a little too far: even aguilera looked better than her for once. britney was dressed up like an old, male prostitute and i didn't like it one bit. then again, jennifer love hewitt looked a lot worse. she looked like a crow. j is right: she has the longest neck in the world.
i was excited that no doubt won two awards because their new album is amazing, and their videos are always cool. gwen stefani is still totally my fashion icon, as she was still showing her understated elegance. she was wearing the most beautiful whoosy pvc skirt and had on the deepest red lipstick.
kate hudson was wearing a super cool mod-like dress which makes her look like a walking vinyl record.
seeing ja rule dressed up in a suit and with a trilby too made me very happy. however, i must confess that it was far more exciting when right at the end, he joined nas on stage and growled "murder" with no top on. mmm-hmm.
i don't know who brittney murphey is, but she gets props for wearing jeans.
j lo had beautiful 1940s-style hair, but her frock was kind of lame. i was happy that she won an award for "i'm real" with ja rule, because that song is wicked.
it was really sad to see chilli and t-boz up on stage without lis left eye. i always forget how cool tlc were. i think they were really brave for going to the ceremony. i'm looking forward to hearing their next album.
eminem was really boring and moody. he should have punched moby in the face. i would have done. that wasn't the most annoying part of the evening, though: the worst was when those idiots from american idol took to the stage. i'm so glad i haven't seen that show, it would have really pissed me off. the english version seems way better, but that's not really surprising. i hope simon cowell stays in america and gives them all s club juniors.
avril lavigne and the white stripes won awards, which i found pretty weird because i didn't know the stripes were that popular in the states just yet. i liked it when she gave a shout of to "her boys". her boys are really mysterious. i want to get to know them better but i never have the chance.
by the end of the show, i felt myself feeling really happy that i live in a country where ten sixteen year old boys who can't sing or dance are number one in the pop charts.
