pop princesses
yesterday i got me some chocolate lip balm and it's the most gorgeous thing in the world. i've also got a brand new journal with no lines, so already i've cut out and stuck in pictures and drawn doodles around my thoughts, which makes it the most cool to write in.
i read this one opinion which was that singers such as avril lavinge and vanessa carlton are no different from pop princess britney spears - they've been lolita-ed out by the music industry and are being sold to gullible teenagers who believe that because avril dresses alternative and plays guitar, then she is alternative. i didn't realise that people still cared about 'alternative' anymore.
avril is teeny, and in the video for her song "complicated" she is only hanging out with boys, showing everyone that she's not down with all that girly girl stuff. because being a girly girl isn't cool anymore, i'm guessing. what i do see within the music industry is girls pitting themselves against each other, like pink dissing britney in her song "don't let me get me".
it's depressing. it's what happens to girls growing up and i don't like seeing it being played out in music industry. you can tell people are making mad money out of their dumb marketing ploys (how different is pink to britney?) and that just makes it all the worse.
christina aguilera is tiny and wears nasty clothes, and is said to have fucked fred durst! but despite this, i can't help but like her. you can never, ever tell what she's going to get up to next. pop pervert moby said that she'd probably be good in bed, because she seems "sexually adventurous". gross.
i like pink because even though her album was kind of lame, in her new video she spends most of the time on her knees shouting at a man's crotch. she wears super cool clothes and her socks are never clean, allegedly.
i like avril lavinge because she seems really mean and pissy and sure of herself. her music sounds like radish, girl style.
i like vanessa carlton because she sounds like a fairy and "a thousand miles" belongs in a traumatic episode of dawson's creek.
i especially like britney because she gets dissed all the time, but never responds to meanies, because she's way too cool to even care. she loves to dance and her latest album is the sexiest album ever. the worst kind of pop princesses are atomic kitten, who murder blondie songs and are mingers.
when i am rich, i am buying this dress.
