viva les sugababes
i like the sugababes because they are quite unlike any other pop princesses around. they wear really cool clothes, and they never smile in pictures. in fact, i don’t think i’ve seen any of them smile. i like the fact that they’re moody sometimes because it usually makes teevee presenters nervous. one time, i saw them on t4 and vernon asked them if they’d pose naked in a magazine for nine million £s. and they just looked at him like he was retarded and eventually mutya sighed “no” and it was extremely awkward. all the cameramen were laughing with embarrassment. it was great. i liked seeing vernon squirm.
when they sing on top of the pops, they stand there like they can’t really be bothered. their dances involve walking around looking bored. but then, in the video for their song “freak like me”, they are shown beating boys up with super-powers; which was rather exciting.
there are three girls in the sugababes: mutya, who has a cool piercing right by her lip and looks beautiful in leather skirts; keisha, who says that when she got famous, she was deserted by her high school friends and usually looks quite feisty and angry; and my favourite, heidi, who used to be in atomic kitten (which i find weird because they suck so bad. they have recently covered and killed blondie’s “tide is high”, which is so awful i can't quite put it into words. they also covered "eternal flame" by the bangles, which also sucked mainly because none of them can sing and they all wear nasty clothes and look stupid). i’m not sure how long heidi will last in the sugababes because she often smiles, and when i saw them play live, she ran up and down the stage waving at the crowd while keisha and mutya just stood their ground. she is beautiful in a dirty looking way.
there was a flame-haired lady in the sugababes who left under suspicious circumstances. i didn’t really care for her much anyway. and i was really happy when heidi joined because she’s just too cute.
the main reason why i like the sugababes is because you can never tell what they are going to be up to next. i thought i wouldn't hear from them again when they got dropped by their label sometime last year, and instead they got a new lady on board and scored a number one with a bootleg of gary numan and adena howard.
even when the girls from atomic kitten get new boys and get pregnant, it’s boring news. they are just very boring girls. that’s one thing that the sugababes aren’t. even when they’re standing around on top of the pops looking snooty they wear the best clothes. i like their new song. it's swishy.
