candies
it's not that i disagree with the candies foundation ads that i keep seeing inside magazines. it's important that teenage girls should know about pregnancy and how it would change their lives if they were pregnant.
messages such as "be vocal – say no way. four in ten girls will experience at least one pregnancy before reaching age 20" are confusing: there is no mention of contraception at all in the ad. teenagers should be given the option to decide whether or not they want to have sex, and not be frightened into thinking that the best way to avoid bad things happening is by just saying no. just saying no might well work, but i think that education goes a lot further.
people need to learn about contraception, the overwhelming emotions that come with sex, if and when it happens. tara reid in a tee that reads, "be sexy - it doesn't mean you have to have sex" sends a strong message out, but the word "unprotected" isn't inbetween "have" and "sex" and it really should be.
