wasted and ready

i know i know it's been so long since i last updated. i am such a spaced out and tired grrl right now; after all those essays and exams and now it's so sunny it just makes me sleepy.
on thursday we went up to camden, all sloshy and rainy. and we were at the venue on time, but ben came out and said he could do the interview after the show, and that was cool with us. the record shops were all closed already so we talked to some other press dudes in the bar and looked at the ben kweller zine that a girl was handing out.
the show was so great! he opened with "i ca't help falling in love with you" and did a super-super cool accoustic version of "ice ice baby"...whoah. i was nearly crying when he played "walk on me", and i was rocking out to "commerce, tx" and just loved the way he waved his guitar around. the whole band were amazing, and at the end they were pounding on their guitars so hard that a string broke and at one point the drummer knocked one of the drums off the stage. wooo! afterwards, ben talked to fans and signed stuff and his lovely girl liz helped sell ben tees and pins and records and then finally ben whisked me upstairs for the interview.
we talked about destiny, and about how much we love pavement (the first time i ever saw a picture of radish was when ben was wearing allstars and on one he'd written 'pave' and the other 'ment'). we talked about karma, and being young, and the whole nirvana, inc battle and sha sha. and then some boy kept bothering us so we left and ben gave me a big hug and said he loved talking to me and i just about flew down camden high street.
it was dark and i was tired and we crashed at meriel's house. in the morning, we opened the windows to a busy portobello market below us. flowers blooming, saris hung up for sale, stalls full of shoes from the fifties and mirrors and little antiques and just about everything. we drank tea with meriel in her burnt orange kitchen, and then she showed us around the markets and the record shop that she lives above. while josh sifted through records at rough trade, i listened to the ben interview again because i couldn't quite believe it happened. we bought beautiful fresh strawberries at the market and then meriel got us free lunch at the super-cool vegetarian resteraunt where she works.
after that we headed to the tate modern and saw some sarah lucas and damien hurst and rothko and warhol and picasso and by that time i was so tired i thought i'd pass out. so we headed home, watched lynne get thrown out of the big brother house, and slept some. fuh-you. it's all too much.
i should sleep this afternoon. this morning, we pottered around the laines and i sold some america's dreamings at a record shop and the guy working there told me that bratmobile stayed at his house after the show that i interviewed them for! his house-mate was in huggy bear. we're seeing le tigre tonight, which should rocketh. i might sell my zine there too.
