i heart kathleen hanna

so, yesterday i wrote bout how i feel bad when something sexist really upsets me; like i shouldn't feel so strongly about it.
last night i caught this quote from kathleen hanna talking about a sexist joke someone made towards her. even though they were saying it to her in a sarcastic way, it pissed her off nevertheless:
"right, but regardless, it's not taking my perspective and it's not funny to me. i have to deal with sexism every day so it's like maybe boys can find that really funny and humorous, i don't have the luxury to find that humorous.
i live it every fucking day. that's not funny to me, and if i say it's not funny, it's not funny. it's like there's no argument there, whether it's funny or not, if i say i don't find it funny it means, "hey, be cool to me and respect me, your joke is not my joke.""
i cannot tell you how much i respect and admire this woman. she has the confidence that i lack. she has the sassiness and the gaul to be unapologetic for her feelings. and i love her for that.
i also love her for the song 'thurston moore hearts the who'.
"if sonic youth thinks you're cool does that mean everything to you. question mark. if you think sonic youth is cool and you think that they think that you're not cool; does that mean everything to you. question mark."
awesome.
ps. i hate you
